'People and Place' Workshop Series


Workshop One, 10am – 4.30pm, Monday 20 May
Large Clore Suite, Great North Museum: Hancock, Newcastle upon Tyne

This workshop will consider public engagement broadly, addressing issues such as identifying publics and their needs, recognising and transferring relevant skills beyond higher education, and the role of the region and local identity in devising partnership projects. 

Panellists will include representatives from the Laing Gallery, Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums, the Great North Museum: Hancock, Palace Green Library, Durham County Record Office, the Discovery Museum and Newcastle and Durham universities.

Workshop Two, 10am – 5pm, Monday 3 June
Senate Suite, Durham Castle

Taking a practical approach to public engagement, this workshop will address questions about audience, location, format, funding, planning, sustainability and legacy.

Panellists will include representatives from the Laurence Sterne Trust, TUSK Music, Tyne and Wear Archives, Durham World Heritage, Beamish Museum, Great North Museum: Hancock, Durham County Record Office and Northumbria, Newcastle and Durham universities.
